About HMSA
HMSA is a nonprofit, mutual benefit society founded in 1938. We are the most experienced provider of healthcare coverage in the state, dedicated to providing quality, affordable health plans and employee benefit services.
At HMSA, we are committed to improving the health and well–being of the people in Hawaii through a variety of health promotion and education programs and other community services.
HMSA is led by its executive staff and governed by a 27–member, consumer–oriented board of directors. The board represents a broad cross–section of the local community, including government, business, labor, management, education, finance, the medical profession, religion and the general public.
HMSA is a member of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, an association of independent Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans.
